With a packed calendar celebrating food, wine, arts and more, there is always something special happening in this alpine paradise.

Winter (December – February)

Winter in Lake Tahoe is nothing short of magical with its towering pine trees dusted in snow and the crisp, mountain air filling the atmosphere. Skiers and snowboarders flock to Tahoe’s famous ski resorts, making it a lively and thrilling time to visit. The charming towns around the lake come alive with festive lights and events the whole family will love.Heavenly Holidays Family Festival (Heavenly): South Lake Tahoe lights up during the month of December with a dazzling array of festive sights and sounds. At the heart is the daily tree lighting of an impressive 65-foot tree, along with masterful ice sculptures that add to the holiday magic. Families can enjoy breakfast with Santa, meet and greet popular characters and partake in a variety of other family-friendly activities. The celebration culminates with a Rockin’ New Year’s Eve bash, complete with fireworks and live music for the perfect way to ring in the new year.Tahoe SNOWFEST (North Lake Tahoe): This annual extravaganza is the largest winter mountain festival on the West Coast. With more than 50 events from family-friendly outdoor adventures to lively nightlife, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Highlights include a lively street fair and parade, an ice sculpture contest, Polar Bear Swim and the Alaskan Open Snow Golf Tournament. This 10-day celebration also features live entertainment, educational activities and fundraisers, all capped off with spectacular fireworks.

Spring (March – May)

Spring in Lake Tahoe offers a refreshing vibe as the region transitions from the snow-capped beauty of winter to the welcoming warmth of summer. The crowds start to thin out after the winter rush, giving way to a quieter, more peaceful atmosphere.Cushing Crossing (Palisades Tahoe): A fun end-of-season tradition, the pond skim sees skiers and snowboarders, often in creative costumes, race down a slope and attempt to skim across a pond at the bottom of the hill. This hilarious spectacle has gained popularity, now taking place at several ski resorts around Lake Tahoe, but the original and most iconic one is Cushing Crossing at Palisades Tahoe. With over 30 years of history and tradition, this competition draws a huge crowd and promises some good laughs.

Summer (June – August)

As summer arrives, Lake Tahoe transforms into a breathtaking lakeside paradise, with crystal-clear waters and sun-drenched days. The warm, refreshing air is perfect to enjoy outdoor activities, live entertainment and of course, the 4th of July, which is the highlight of Lake Tahoe’s lively summer season. The Olympic Club Trans Tahoe Relay: This annual open water swim got its start in 1976 when members of the Olympic Club challenged one another to a race across Lake Tahoe. Today, it attracts over 1,200 competitors from across the country, making it one of the largest open water swim events in the world. At 10-miles long, this high-altitude race is a true showcase of athleticism. Teams and their loved ones can relax on the beach, enjoy a picnic and admire the beautiful lake scenery. Tahoe City Food & Wine Classic (North Lake Tahoe): One of Tahoe City’s signature events, this beloved food festival offers a fine selection of Northern California wines and exquisite bites from local restaurants, highlighting the region's culinary talent. Stroll along the picturesque lakeshore, savoring delicious food and wines while enjoying live music and browsing goods from local artisans, all set against the stunning backdrop of Lake Tahoe. Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival (Incline Village): Step onto the sandy shores of Lake Tahoe for an evening of entertainment under the stars. From July through August, locals and visitors can enjoy lakeside theatrical performances celebrating the works of William Shakespeare. Pack a picnic or dine on gourmet fare for a pre-show alfresco meal as the sun dips below the pine tree-dotted horizon. With extraordinary talent, a dazzling location and educational youth programs, this beloved festival offers something for everyone.American Century Championship Cup (South Lake Tahoe): The American Century Championship Cup in Lake Tahoe is one of the most exciting events of the year. Held at the stunning Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, this premier celebrity golf tournament brings together some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment, including NFL stars, NBA legends, actors and sports broadcasters. This star-studded tournament raises funds for both local and national charities, making it a fun and meaningful experience for fans and participants alike.Classical Tahoe Music Festival (North Lake Tahoe): The annual Classical Tahoe Festival is a celebration of world-class music, drawing musicians from the New York Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony and more. In addition to a distinguished lineup of classical, chamber and jazz concerts, the four-week festival also features educational programs and an exclusive annual summer gala. The festival offers a refined cultural experience for music enthusiasts and families alike.Lake Tahoe Concours D'Elegance (West Lake Tahoe): Be part of the magic as Lake Tahoe transforms into a maritime marvel during North America’s premier wooden boat show. This annual event, presented in partnership by the Tahoe Yacht Club Foundation and Tahoe Luxury Properties, is a dazzling display of classic wooden watercraft that have been preserved or impeccably restored. Complete with an opening gala and other exciting events like a Ladies’ luncheon and fashion show, men’s grill and awards BBQ, this two-day celebration is jam packed with activities. Visitors can enjoy the boat show, wine village, luxury shopping, live jazz music, bites from local chefs and a thrilling silent auction.

Fall (September – November)

During the fall months, Lake Tahoe transforms into a canvas of vibrant autumn colors. The crowds start to thin out, offering a more relaxed atmosphere to savor the natural beauty, indulge in the local food scene, and enjoy the serenity of the lake before winter sets in.Alpen Wine Fest (Palisades Tahoe): Brought to you by The Village at Palisades Tahoe and Uncorked, this decades-old annual event brings together wine lovers from near and far. With all-inclusive tastings from over 40 renowned wineries, this festival is filled with live music, a silent auction and of course, world-class wines. Best of all, every sip and bid helps support a local charity, making this celebration of wine a truly meaningful experience.Autumn Food and Wine Festival (North Lake Tahoe): The North Lake Tahoe Autumn Food and Wine Festival is the ultimate experience for food and wine enthusiasts. Over three days, this adults-only event brings together renowned winemakers and some of the region’s finest chefs for an unforgettable and delicious weekend. Enjoy wine tastings, culinary seminars and mountain top dining while learning from top chefs through cooking demonstrations and mixology lessons. Enjoy in winemaker luncheons and dinners or challenge your palate at the culinary competition and Grand Tasting. With a perfect blend of food, wine and mountain views, this festival is a true feast for the senses.Sample the Sierra (South Lake Tahoe): Sample the Sierra is a unique farm-to-fork festival that celebrates the rich flavors and culture of the Sierra Nevada region.
